refracted in sullen solitude
leisurely rolling on two
wheels parallel to slowly
flowing water with
afternoon light on my
back. man made trails
co-existing with earth made
trees and hills diminish to
specks in the distance.
a bird chirp here, a mateless
bounding rabbit there, groundhogs
guarding their small
black descending homes.
carefully gliding along and letting
my mind wander, appreciating
every private mile as they
fade into the past.
mother nature accepts
my arrival into her
serene paradise, all the
while knowing she is capable
of exerting force driven
rain and wind.
quiet calm enriches every
inch on my person as I
ride into sullen solitude
refracted by permanent peace
