A Campfire
The glowing orange, captures the night.
It casts the shadows,
Shrouded in fright.
It’s entrancing shapes, reflect in your eyes.
It deepens the dark,
T’ween you and the skies.
The heat embracing embers, crackle and snap.
A shower of sparks,
Seem to attack.
The slightest move, brings the smoke.
With tears in your eyes,
You want to choke.
The creatures of the night, hover around.
They seem to be drawn,
To the glowing crown.
Add another log, the glow will duel.
Before long,
It’s added fuel.
There’s peace in your world, everything’s right.
Setting by a fire,
On a starlit night.
