A 'Semblance of Me

By Henry Duthler

You quiet the storm within

Its rage and fury dismissed

The waves of turbulent times

Are silenced and turned to mist

The darkest hour of my existence

Banished from all memory

There's peace and tranquility in my heart

There's a semblance of me

Though rain and snow might return

And the winds will ride again

The earth may quake beneath my feet

And mortality brings such pain

There's something brilliant across the sky

The heavens open up their gates to see

What seemed so lost and hopeless,

Is now a semblance of me.
