This Wood, This Afternoon
This wood, this afternoon, is a cathedral.
Herald! Pure beauty without church,
Buttress, altar, or pillar,
Only golden light and silver birch.
Still blue and red stained glass gives way
To green leaves, slowly waving, in a breeze like a kiss
And while both are pierced by the sun's gentle rays
Only one is unframed… and only one offers bliss.
