No Longer Looming

Poetry By: Hinoglue

A tree stands alone in a vast open area, contumplating (sp?) life.

My friends, they had been cut away and killed.

Now I stand here alone, staring out into the vast open land, no one there but myself.

I cannot help but ask, why am I still here? Why have they left me?

I was always the tallest, the biggest, the strongest,

looming over all of my fellows, and now I loom over nothing but bare land and rock.

Then something approches, something small, but powerful.

It gets closer, too close for my liking.

A large gapping mouth opens up, and takes me by the roots.

I am no longer there, no longer looming, no longer living.
