THE GRANDFATHER CLOCK

Tick-tock Tick tock

The sound in the hall

Of the Grandfather clock

It's pendulum swung from left to right

It's chimes rang out

In the dead of night.

It was bought on the day

That the old man was born

And since that day

It's chimes heralded the dawn.

A call for school was always on time

It never let him down come rain or shine.

Soon he was grown

There was work to be done

That faithful clock called him up

Before the sun.

As he got older

And his eyes were dim

It's face he couldn't see

But it's chimes would ring.

Ringing out the hours of each passing day

And then the old man passed away.

It was the noon of the day when his heart did stop

And so did the heart of the Grandfather clock

It never chimed again!!
