(Not my best poem, but I am out of practice somewhat)
First things first: Sorry for my lengthy Absence. I entered the National novel writing competition. Had to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. I managed it! And my fingers are still working as well, which is a shocker.
Anyhoo, this poem has two inspirations really.
Firstly, It's an insight into my mind. I often find I start to write poems and the scrap them. Even ones I do write tend to have a lot of alterations.
Secondly, it's a call to all the writers just starting out. Anyone who criticises a new writer harshly for their work, without offering advice, is a horrible person. It makes me angry how many people say things like, 'just stop writing, you suck' (which was said to me once, actually). After all, we weren't born knowing how to write. After seventeen years, I don't know how to spell every word or every literary technique.
A human being never stops learning till the day they die. Remember that, if ever you think you can't write. Just keep writing, you'll see the results soon enough.
