I fell down the other day
And a stranger came over
To ask if I was ok
He took my arm to help me rise
And as I slowly rose from the ground
He met me with a big surprise
It was a smile upon his face
With a kind word to be careful
And to maybe slow my pace
I righted myself and shook his hand
“Only my pride is hurt I said”
As I brushed away dirt and sand
I fell down the other day
And my faith was restored
In a very special way
With so much social pressure and strife
Another human being helped me
And took time from their life
I fell down the other day
His name was James
A debt to him I will never repay
So if you see someone fall down today
Don’t walk past, stop and help
Because a smile can make pain melt away.
I fell down the other day
I was full of hate and pain so you see
He saved my life in an unselfish way
