Her eyes lit up like a Xmas tree
As I asked her to come home with me
To a home full of laughter and Joy
With a warm bad and a squeaky toy
She would snuggle gently with a purr
As I attentively rubbed her soft plush fur
She was as loving as any other child
But a tom cat used to make her wild
Playing outside was so much fun
While frolicking in the morning sun
She would jump, chase, run and play
If I went in she would beg me to stay
At night she would cuddle under
And lay close by when it did thunder
Staying safe from the noise outside
But then always walk away with pride
She would talk and talk to get a treat
And then curl up against me on my seat
I loved my Jessie, you see it’s true
But to say goodbye I had to do
I held her close I would not cry
As she let out a belated longing sigh
She looked me deep within my Heart
Knowing somehow we would be apart
She slowly went to a better place
As I noticed a tear upon my face
I kissed her gently and said goodbye
As my soul then did begin to cry
