I sit alone surrounded by thousands
Greeting the darkness that is within
Remnants of a dream lingering
With silence I reflect upon my sin
Light sharp and burning trying to illuminate
The deepest recesses of my shrouded mind
I cannot see them moving aimlessly around me
The darkness beckons me to join my kind
I suffer only at the bequest of others speaking
Listening to their taunts but not hearing
Screaming at the top of my lungs but no noise escapes
I feel the darkness, welcoming but never seeing
My ears are bloody phonics against my head
A surreal dance of shadows tries to entice
But I am better off where I can do no harm
Encased in the sounds of silence
