The beast was there to do as I bid
And do as it was told by only me
In the darkest corners of life it hid
Away from the light so you can’t see.
It lived in shadows of black and grey
And at the very sound or thought of my sight
It would run, cower, hide and back away,
As if scared by me and the thought of light
I fed the creature its favourite fare
I gave it purpose to exist upon this earth
I even caressed its dirty and matted hair
I tended to it each day, from its unholy birth
And what do I get in return for my favour
But growls and bared teeth from bleeding lips
My tenure, love and care do not quaver
As I bring the water it so greedily sips.
Then one day it lashed and bit down hard
It wanted more and was full of anger and greed
So I killed it as a lesson for you all to be shared
Never ever bite the hand that feeds!
