What is poetry?
What makes a poem?
What makes these letters sing?
What makes these letters dance?
Is poetry lines
Broken into stanzas,
Words broken into lines,
Passion, tamed into words?
Is poetry rage
Or courage, or hope?
Is poetry grief
Or joy, or boldness?
Is poetry tears,
Or smiles, or laughter?
Is poetry rebellion against
The oppression of mundaness?
So I ask you again,
What is poetry?
