Daddy slight five foot six

With Danny La Rue taste,

Daddy hated conflict,

But this to be his fate,

Black hair changed overnight

To silver shade of grey

When mother took quick flight,

No concept of fair play;

His laughing eyes now itched

From rubbing and crying,

His smiling mouth now twitched

And heart began dying,

40 daily he'd smoke

And whisky by the flask,

Which proved to be no joke,

56 removed in cask;

Passed before his Mum and Dad,

Grandchildren and kids bereft,

Ma couldn't have felt too bad,

As refused his sole request;

He needed one last look

At snaps logged lovingly,

A stolen photo book

Denied his deathbed plea.
