MY RIGHT TO NO REPLY

Poetry By: Indie Skreet
Poetry

The saddest day for me once I had made up my mind to leave my marriage was the realisation my husband did love me. Sadly it was all too late.

He followed me from room to room

He drove me to distraction

And I was uncharitable

In my curt reaction

I was unwilling to communicate

Or hear his words of doom

Resistant to his need for me

In the midst of my own gloom

I closed the door behind me

But that failed to do the trick

I feared another argument

My temper over-quick

He refused to respect my privacy

And now my right to no reply

30 years of yelling to be heard

Now all left to say was my goodbye
