He followed me from room to room
He drove me to distraction
And I was uncharitable
In my curt reaction
I was unwilling to communicate
Or hear his words of doom
Resistant to his need for me
In the midst of my own gloom
I closed the door behind me
But that failed to do the trick
I feared another argument
My temper over-quick
He refused to respect my privacy
And now my right to no reply
30 years of yelling to be heard
Now all left to say was my goodbye
