If I could, I’d inhale each sigh,
Absorb your every how and why,
Steal those lines between your brow;
Give the answers here and now.
If I could unravel each knot,
Kill the source germinating rot,
I hope you know that I would,
If only ……… I wish I could.
If I could plunder every ache,
Prevent nights which keep you awake,
Steal the days which seem too long,
Help you feel like you belong.
I’d take your pain and make it mine,
Kiss your sorrow and strengthen spine,
Cleanse the bleakness from your heart,
Rip each damaged thought apart.
And I could fib, ‘will all be fine’,
But both know, would just be spun line,
I could lie, ‘will be alright’,
Or try to pray, that it might.
