On the banks of the swollen river
a thousand Wildebeast stomp
but lurking in the water
the Crocs prepare to chomp
gathering up their numbers
Zebra join the throng but
even the dumbest Wildebeast
know that this is wrong
and so with the river raging
and the current fast and strong
the herds plunge in the water
hoping this ain't taking long
the crocs begin a zoning
on the old, weak and young
then biting and an a snapping
the river runs with blood
as the tired stripey Zebra
tries escaping in the mud
Wildebeast gives second glance
as he struggles onto the bank
but the Crocs begin their tossing
of the Zebras ample flank
their teeth all sharp and freshly honed
reward for brushing and a flossing
Wildebeast looks and shakes his head
(cos he knows the poor thing is dead)
I tried to tell him to go back ... this is not the Zebra crossing !
