Rock-a-bye-baby, crying out loud
Turn up the TV to block out the sound
Of Mum and the baby as she rocks to and fro
I’d like to move out but there’s nowhere to go.
She’s teething you see and these are the worst
Where the eyes meet the teeth, I remember the first
That she cut and the nights that I lost as she rocked
To and fro and her face grimaced and locked
Like a pike that’s latched on to the hum
And the strum of lullabies from mum
And the clock ticking on, for goodness sake
A night of drama, now we’re all awake.
Rock-a-bye-baby, fast asleep
Through the curtains the sun will seep
To start a new day but today will keep
Cause now the whole house is fast asleep.
