“Forgive me father, for I have sinned
It’s been seven years since I last came in
I’ve messed up my life, I need you to forgive
What I have done so I can go and live
All these bad things I’ve done can be washed away
So I can walk out this door and lead a life astray”
They might not be the words that were spoken
But they sure echoed through a voice broken
Just because you’re forgiven does not mean
That you are immortally and eternally clean
You go to church and you pray to God
Who are you trying to fool with your cardboard facade?
Anyone can see right through it, don’t bother lying
The rest of us know that you aren’t even trying
So either take the mask off or show us a face
That’s been marred by years of hypocrisy and disgrace
Religion is for those who have faith in a deity
Not for someone like you to hide in the homogeneity
