Grocery store aisles.
No Smiles.
No style
In Generic brands.
Shelves lined with cans.
Stands of fresh bread
go to waste.
Same taste,
but labels are read.
Celebrities on planes
complain.
Drained by the stress
of wealth and fame.
While starving children
Climb piles of garbage.
Bottled water flung
at the heads
by divas and pop artists.
Rotting sores
on the bellies of youth.
Quick! Change the Channel!
Find some cartoons!
Demand candy
split into bowls.
By shape and by color.
Requests by Assholes.
You shimmer. You shine.
Divine on the stage.
While half of Africa
is dying of AIDS.
Abundance.
Wealth.
The Land of the free.
The poor are just those
without cable TV.
