Alone, he walked the railroad tracks each day.
Singing hymns of American shame.
Greasy Denim
Searching for Rusted Metal.
Sleeping in the broken boxcars of the known universe
From Memphis to Nashville
Bald with Skeletal grimace
Mind filthy - insect excrement
Hobo - speak the language of the rails
Ox of the Chinese Zodiac
Bearing heavy burden of life long past - seeking to escape
Tobacco black teeth. Broken, rotting mouth.
Lungs cough and burn. Tuberculosis. Bloody phlegm.
Sanctuary he cries.
Theatrical - Whiskey slumber
Resting his head on pillows made of burlap. Heartache.
An old photograph in his hand.
