Once upon a time
I believed in happy endings
Once upon a time
Fairy tales were the truth
Way back then
I wasn't just pretending
Innocence so sweet
With only everything to lose

Now, now, the world is burning down around us
Now, now, I see everything in flames
But the strangest thing is that everything is ice cold
I'm terrified of this terrible numbing world

When we lost him
I assumed it was just shock
But now that time's gone by
I think that maybe I've forgot
Just what it is to live
Without tears and desolation
I find me standing here
In this pain and isolation

Now, now, the world is burning down around us
Now, now, I see everything in flames
But the strangest thing is that everything is ice cold
I'm terrified of this terrible numbing world

Can I rewind the tapes
Go back in time to back then
Can I reverse this curse
Tell me this isn't the end
Before I lose myself
In this sadness and this pain
The light at the end of the tunnel
Is from an oncoming train

So stay by me now please
I'm down on my knees
If I'm going down here
Just let me down softly dear
Fire burns down walls
That had refused to fall
And where all has turned to gray
It brings the light of day

Now, now, the world is burning down around us
Now, now, I see everything in flames
But the strangest thing is that everything is ice cold
I'm terrified of this terrible numbing world
