When I was a child,

I would do everything for you to notice me,

I tried and i tried,

But you didn't notice.

When i was a teenager

I mastered the art of pissing you off

And i did it often

Because then you saw me

I dyed my hair

I pierced my face

I dated boys and talked about sex

And it wound you up

I found myself

I fell in love with a beautiful woman

I told you about her

And how much she ment to me

You never met my girl

We didn't discuss her or my "phase"

She broke my heart

But you couldn't see my pain

Im a grown woman now daddy

I have a life, a home, independence

But i still want the same things i did

I want you to care

When i settle down and have a family

I don't want our relationship to be like this

We speak once a month if that

Will you be a better granddad than you are a dad?
