John Belushi Bruce Lee,

River Phoenix, James Dean,

Captivated us on the silver screen

Jim Morrison, Bon Scott,

Jimi Hendrix Phil Lynott,

Talents who will never be forgot.

Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly,

Curtis Ian. Bolan Marc,

Pioneers who lit up the musical dark.

Steve Irwin, Heath Ledger,

Mercury, Freddie, Everett Kenny

Of precious talent, there are too many

They departed too fast, cut off in their prime,

They left us too soon, way before their time.

That's really kind of you Mandy, thanks very much. Was a little concerned it read better in my head than written down.

You've reassured me, thanks once again and I shall check out your stuff in but a short while. :-)

Ah, this is so perfect. Such an inspired idea, it makes me think, hey why didn't I think of that? LOL A brilliant idea and written so well! ~ Nixie

:-) Thanks so much, have to admit it wasn't a completely original idea, I was inspired myself by Madonna's "Vogue" and Billy Joel's "We didn't start the fire"... hows THAT for a pairing?

Would LOVE to read a version of your creation, guarenteed it would knock seven shades of...whatsit out of my attempt!!

it's a very touchy poem....Though honestly i did not understand the theme but the words r lovely.

LOL no worries, the people were quite specialised I suppose. The theme was about talented stars of film and music who died before the onset of old age and they still had more talent to give.
All the same thankyou for giving it a read and taking the time out to write this, always look forward to your comments. :-)

Yeah its a great idea,
Some amazing names that didnt really have that much time too show they were that amazing,
Love it :D

:-) Aww thanks hun, wonder what would have happened if they had more time to shine.....

They may have left us but their work still lives on. Many of them passed away before I was born yet I've still heard of half of them, that must mean something...

Keep up the great work!

Olola.

LOL now you've gone and made me feel old there! Though to be honest quite a number were dead and gone before I was a twinkle in my dads eye as well.

I think that's the most effective way of immortality is to produce somethign that can be enjoyed by people born and growing up after the person themselves have gone.

Thanks very much again Olola, always look forward to your comments.

Just browsing while in your page (making a comment.) I appreciate this poem, find it a tragedy that so many talented young artists go too soon. John Lennon is another, the song he wrote for his son Sean always makes me cry, what a loving and talented person.
Any new writing in the offing??

It does seem a nasty pattern that many artists leave such lasting work but do not seem to live long enough to appreciate and be appraciated.

Or is it because they go so soon that we raise their work up on these pedistals?

A few irons in the fire, though as always it will probably end up publishing somethign I havebn't even thought of then publishing the ones I am thinking of. how about you?
