Alas! A Will and A Love!

Poetry By: James Troxler
Poetry

I wrote this when I was 16 and in desperate love, pining away for my first crush. At the time I had brushed upon Celtic-style poetry. Don't really think I got the style down, but nevertheless, I was proud of this.

Alas, A Will And A Love

Did you make the stars fall,

When your dark eyes twinkled?

Did fires roar in their hall,

When your button nose crinkled?

Did your heart paint the sky,

With mellow shades of red?

Did the clouds weep with sorrow,

When warm tears you shed?

Did your giggles and laughter,

Give you a better ever-after?

Did not my sorrow turn aside,

When your smile touched my heart?

Was my anger humbled,

When your tone became tart?

Who will the trees dance for,

If not you?

Who would the mountains sing to,

If not you?

If only you and I could have walked the same course.

But if that is not His will,

Why do I feel remorse?

Who became a burden,

If not me?

Who was another link to your heavy chains,

If not me?

If this is the way,

Then I will be content.

But I will always remember the girl,

Who was heaven sent.
