My Good Yellow Buddy

Remember when you were a kid, and the rain poured down in front of you as you watched from inside?

Through glass; I gaze

At blissful sun escaping

A rainy shield of ghastly dark

But as joy is mostly momentary

And the turning tumult bully

A fantasy I urge to…

The unyielding darkness

Steals my lunch money

And shoves with a grunt

My good yellow buddy

Across the sky and tucks him away

In a murky locker…complete with chain and,

Bar. I can see him pounding at the door,

But the bully thunders and alights

And finally with a small thud,

A little sniffle, my good yellow buddy

Retreats, and awaits for fair weather

To make his great escape.

And I will sit inside and wish for

Him, till it is safe to play again.
