Falling Softly

Poetry By: JBrewer

This is about all those times when you think life is perfect. It's that first moment when you realize something new is about to happen and change your lives. When a family member, loved one or a friend looks at everyone and starts off with just a few words and by the end you all watch that first single tear roll down, as you hear their bad news. Maybe they just told you they have cancer, or maybe that someone close to you has just passed away. But each time, it's always about that first teardrop.

Slowly forming, glisten in the light,
hidden truth found in the night.
Growing larger as the truth is told,
this fragile thing more precious than gold.
Gently sliding no sound to be made,
lost in a shadow, but would never fade.
Wait and wonder, as the truth comes near,
but it makes it's way down further,
without any fear.
Beyond the edge, it starts to fall,
as truth takes over and breached the wall.
In the light it glimmers and yet it gleams,
but as the truth is told, it's never as it seems.
Softly falling, it's now ready to rest,
as truth takes over, it completes it's quest.
Now as you look up, everyone has gathered around,
all their eyes are upon you, as your teardrop,
slowly touches the ground.
