I once walked into the darkness
and felt the hands of a shadow
slowly grip my heart.
No light has removed it since,
it's cold grip remains
entrenched deep in my soul.
I can feel it there still,
among my chest, in my soul.
This cold hand that refuses to let go.
Never releasing the chilled grip
that's upon my heart.
I keep searching for the light.
The sun rises, as the new day comes,
but soon it slowly fades away.
Back into the shadows, the night.
That darkness always lurks so near,
it seems never ending.
Even in the light, the shadows creep close.
