It's what makes us human,
you and I.
This pain,
this torture,
that we hold beneath.
Shadows that have faded,
only we can see.
Mere echoes of words once spoken,
only heard in memories.
We hide from these things,
we bury them deep.
Somehow,
someone,
always finds the right place to search.
To dig deep.
There's no healing, no fixing,
no making things right.
It's us. Who we are.
We hang on,
to everything,
and never let go.
