Beyond Skin Deep
By © Jeff Shumate 2009
Sweep that floor, shop help; sweep that floor, boy!
That's all you'll ever be to me; so let it be!
Serve that food girl; bring that drink,
Keep that smile of denial, lest you loose your coin!
Dig that ditch man, I need it dug, you dig that ditch,
You son of b$#!@
Do it all woman, do it all! You're the housewife,
Weak and small!
I swept that floor, and my hands are sore!
Is it ok, what I did today?
I served all day, with a smile, tired feet, got my coin
Is it ok, what I did today!
I dug that ditch, and frankly, I look like a dirty son of a b$#!@
Is it ok, what I did today!
I done it all, cleaned the house-floor to wall, bathed the kids, fed my man,
Washed my face, and hit the hay;
Was that ok today?
I love you boy; you made it shine!
I love you boy; you are Mine!
You work so hard; You serve Me well!
You work for Me, they all can tell.
I love you girl; you make Me glad!
I love you girl; don't be sad!
That coin was nothing, compared to what's ahead!
You're the maid, who'll soon be wed!
You dug that ditch; you are a man!
Job well done, you saw My plan!
You're covered in dirt from head to toe,
But just beneath is white as snow!
You did it all; you did you're best,
Complained not once, you passed the test!
I see you daughter, so pristine!
You'll get a crown; you'll be a queen.
Serve Me child, in all you do, and rest assure your Lord sees you!
