Blind In The Eyes

By Jeff Shumate © 2009

Blind in the eyes, seeing through the disguise,

Weak in the knees, the cowardly,

Big boned and obese,

The hero or louse,

The outcast, the fool, the unloved and the cruel,

Scarred in the face, or silky as lace,

Black and brown, red, yellow, and white,

What a curious plight!

A crazed mixed up world, people scattered about,

The short and the stout,

The one without clout,

The lame and the dumb,

The one whose feelings are numb,

The creep and the crook,

The captain or rook,

God has a wrench that fits any old nut,

Neither queen nor queer, has naught to fear,

God's salvation is here,

For sinners who come near-to the cross

Only the strong will survive,

Strength is invisible, lurking under the mask of weakened fools with faith-

In His death,

Burial,

And Resurrection.

Even the brave, the good, and the tall,

Jesus died and rose,

Not for one, but for all!
