Rose Of Sharon

Walking out back, looking around,
to my surprise, a flower I found!
Walking up closer, so I could see,
when did this flower come to be?
Where did it come from, I never saw it before,
this beautiful flower between me and next door!
It grew on the fence, no longer one,
right through the middle, steel branches were spun!
It's petals were violet, open wide for the sun,
and just inside, yellow seeds had begun!
"Hey little flower, on top of a tree,
I've never saw you, have you ever seen me?"
Walking along, the very next day,
stood a man and his tree, just down the way!
This tree grew flowers, abundant and wild,
they were violet with yellow, just like my child!
"Hey there Mr., how do you do,
tell me your name, your tree's name too!"
"Her name's Rose of Sharon, beautiful as can be,
and God made this flower for people to see!"
Later at home, back at the fence,
I pondered just how, to move her from hence!
"If I took a little snip here, a little snip there,
Oh, so much metal inside, she would never repair!"
I decided to leave her; it was the only way,
she'd just have to live there, to bloom in the May!
My little flower, all by herself…
Looking around, I opened my eyes,
Right in the back of my yard, what a surprise!
There they were, never saw them before,
there was her family, displayed in galore!
Oh, Rose of Sharon, pretty as can be,
God made you special, so people can see!
