Tea Party

By Jeff Shumate © 2009

It was the year 1773,

The tea was dumped,

For all to see!

It then was time to take a stand,

No more days,

Under the Brit's command!

Two short years had then gone by,

Thirteen colonies,

Shouted a battle cry!

It was the year 2009,

Have we come full circle-

Before our time?

The kings in congress have a plan,

Divide and conquer,

By the royal hand!

"Let em' riot in the streets,

Destroy, and tear em' down"

Nothings lost, in royal town!

A revolution brews in the air,

Or civil war,

Do they care?

Brother against brother,

Don't you see?

The man's slowly taking our liberty!

War against our brother, we should not,

Don't make blood,

Our only lot!

A more powerful device, we have at hand,

It's time once again, to take a stand,

But not with violence, towards the man!

Use your voice, your eyes, your ears,

Use your freedom,

Instead of spears!

With our voice, we can freely say,

"Your royal highness,

Leave today!"

"And next in line, and you and you,

The train is leaving,

You're on it too!"

Run for office, read a book,

Write your peace,

For all to look!

Volunteer, speak your mind,

Use your life,

Let freedom shine!

If we wait, for too long,

Deaf, dumb, and blind,

Will we become!

There will be no more freedom,

For you or me,

So let lives of freedom, now dump the tea!
