I Can't Leave

Poetry By: JeniseMorrissey
Poetry

A Poem about we escape our feelings when we are dealing with things we can't handle or understand.

this appeared in my first novel on my old account, I never uploaded separately and thought I would. The novel was called "Just Ignore It (It Will Go Away)"

I can’t leave

My eyes are far too deep
And dark for light to leap
Across the path that leads
From this place to the other
Where fear smothers

I cannot leave
Because my breath is short
And I don’t have the heart
To leave this place I’ve built
Where carrousels float
In the sky, and clouds move slowly
As if to sway
In the breeze and the briskness of the air
Feels good

I can’t leave, and I don’t want to
Because the flowers grow like trees here
And the colors are never tinged with grey
Tears turn to dew drops
And the sun only shines for me

I cannot leave
Because in the other place
I cannot understand
The touch of his hand
The image of his dream
Where there is a fleeting gleam
Of madness in his eyes

I cannot leave
Because, beneath it’s strange control
It soothes the bumps and bruises from before
And calms, until the clouded air
Makes you understand
There’s no need to leave here
