Hidden behind a veil

by *jinisha16mehra

Her face hidden behind a veil,
she lurched behind the doors,
waiting for him to enter,
eyes gazing the floors.

Scared even to touch his shadow,
carefully she followed behind,
her veil slipped and,
she heard his teeth grind.

Waiting for the storm to come,
she waited for her husband,
to undo his belt,
and so the storm came on a soft land.

Cruelty crossed its own realms,
poor girl was left crying,
but the devil won't stop,
not for the cries of the girl dying.

Even the belt had mercy,
it broke itself off,
to save the poor girl,
but the man still would not stop.

The girl behind the veil then,
came on the front side,
she looked up with scarlet eyes,
the turn for the husband to hide.

She then found him hidden,
she dug him out,
it was time for him to suffer the pain,
it was time for her to shout.

Hidden behind the veil she was,
hidden and sober and so calm,
she who has the ability to suffer for peace,
don't forget can also bring harm!
