The Devil made me an offer once

In my dreams he came to me
He said I could be immortal
That I would forever be

I could walk the world without a fear
And all would know my name
I could soar through the sky, above all things
And the elements I'd tame

I could have what riches I desired
I could rule all other men
I had to but give up your kiss
And never know your love again

He held the pen for me to sign
To sign your love goodbye
But I laughed at him straight to his face
And spat into his eye

"I pity you," I said to him
"For you'll never understand
The way I feel when she smiles at me
Or when she takes my hand."

"The love I feel cannot be bought
It is worth more than you can give
And in that love lies eternity
So forever I shall live"

"Take yourself away from me
Go back to your world below
You'll never tempt me from my love
It's something you'll never know"

He turned his back and walked away
Knowing I had him beat
While I wrapped myself within my love
And smiled at his retreat.
