Days of the Butterflies
#1: Sulfurs of Outstanding Yellow

Sulfur butterflies are full of bright color
The color of sulfur, but not it's foul odor
Sulfur butterflies are outstanding yellow
But unlike sulfur, they are alive and they are mellow
The sulfur I saw had an under-wing
Of a darker shade of yellow and two black dots
And when it's wings spread, I saw bright yellow
With black on the edges, I like it a lot!
Dark black, bright yellow, go together well
Bright against dark, contrast, a fact
A beautiful yellowish creature overall
Doesn't smell of sulfur, I like it a lot!
Flies over fields of roses and clover
I like to watch it fly, just like that!
This butterfly is unique in shape and color
I love this pretty yellow butterfly
And it's pretty color, yes, I like it a lot!
I found this one on a rose
Hiked a trail through an endless meadow
I stopped in the roses, captured by a flash of yellow
Then said “Hi, there! Hi, there, little fellow”
Yes, I like it a lot! Sulfur of outstanding yellow
I thank God for being able to encounter butterflies
For he made these creatures for boys' and girls' eyes
For he made these creatures for mens' and womens' eyes
For he made these creatures, enabled them to fly
I hope I encounter another one sometime!
