Legends of the Fall is one of my favouritest movies.

It's a torrid love affair with Brad Pitt. His little brother dies in the war to prove he can be brave like Brad, his father suffers a near fatal stroke breaking his heart when Brad goes missing for a number of year and finally his brother's wife kills herself on finally acknowledging that she can never have Brad.

A bit over the top for real life but that's why this works for me as a movie.

Watch it some time. There are some cool lines such as "He was a rock they broke themselves against however much he tried to protect them." View table of contents...

It's pretty simple. Watch the movie - Brad Pitt is divine. It's a story about how the youngest of three brothers, Samuel brings home a lovely young woman to his father's ranch. He intends to marry but wants to go off and fight in the war first.

His 2 older brothers decide to accompany him to protect him really as fights in this war. Unfortunately he dies and they return home to tell the fiancee, Susannah of his passing and bury him in the family plot. It is at this point that things get crazy. Susannah falls madly in love with Brad's character, Tristan while his other brother falls in love with her.

She has a brief affair with Tristan but he leaves the ranch restless for adventure, seeming to never want to return. Susannah opts for a safe marriage to Alfred, the last remaining (and oldest) brother.

Speed along to the end, she kills herself. Tristan takes a wife and she is killed. Basically anyone who ever loved Tristan seems to suffer...the end!
