The Doors Are Locked

Poetry By: Kalika997

A poem about my recurring nightmare.

I walk down that hallway so sterile and dark

It's darker than night yet lighter than day

The doors are locked.

Listening to the monster behind as it creeps up

So slowly as I run, it is biding its time

The doors are locked.

Playing its usual cruel game of chase

A mystery unseen but always heard

The doors are locked.

It seems satisfied with my fear, my desperation

Try a door to see the hope burn away

The doors are locked.

Like so many countless others it is unusable

Past crossing with present fading to future

The doors are locked.

It sometimes throws me through a doorway

The world of omnipresent fear nightmares in nightmares

The doors are locked.

Can't turn to see the beast behind

Wouldn't want to if I could

The doors are locked.

There is no escape, I'm here every night

Listening to the beast in terrible fear

And the doors are always locked.
