Watching the Impossible

Trying to seem strong

While in my head I am crumbling

I am watching an entire person break

Under the strain of life's problems

Before my very eyes

The buffer, the scapegoat, the victim, the punchbag

She is that person,

Dying inside but acting selflessly

Taking the blame time and again

As she has all my life and longer

I watch as what I thought was impossible happens:

I watch her as she breaks
