Consciousness fades before me,
I try to drag it back,
Clutching my once alertedness,
But my eyes draw heavier still,
Hung shut by the lids,
I fall deeper half between,
The two worlds sleep and wake,
Muffled sound disappears to the dark,
Distorted images dance,
Within the black abyss,
Mind travelling aimlessly,
Until the silence comes,
Then all at once transported,
To a land of distant dream.
