Ode to the Asphalt Worker
The asphalt worker is paving the town
As traffic snarls and drivers frown.
The cones are all set to direct traffic right
We hope that the job is completed by night.
They are digging up old to put in the new
It’s all manual labor for this working crew.
The asphalt is poured and the raking now starts
The street will be sealed before they depart.
Their boots are black and their uniforms soiled
The crew is finished, each face shows the toil.
So when we see that asphalt truck
Lets give thanks because we’re not stuck.
In the pothole we hit just last week,
Today our street is smooth and sleek.
