A Message From Your Imagination

Poetry By: Kelly Marino
Poetry

This is my entry for future author's "New Year, New Contest". I SUCK at poetry, so I thought now would be a good time to face my demon and write something truly awful, just to get it out of the way, hehehe. I humbly ask that you hold your laughter until you leave my page (so I won't hear you)!

A MESSAGE FROM YOUR IMAGINATION

by Kelly Marino

alt

Hello, here I am again

I've come to steal your breath.

To twist your stomach into knots

And scare you half to death.

My powers cannot reach you

While the daylight brightly hails.

I'll wait 'til darkness takes you

And your wits fly off the rails.

The sun is slipping low

On the horizon of your mind.

I work my magic in the dark;

I'm not here to be kind.

Oh, frightened, fragile creature!

Helpless when the sun departs.

Your mind hears things your eyes can't see,

And terror rules your heart.

Scary witches and deadly ghosts

Are flying through the air.

Through me, your eyes see spooky things

That aren't really there.

At dawn tomorrow, I'll disappear,

And leave your soul to mend.

But when the lights go out once more,

I'll come back to you again.

From sun to sun, go have your fun

But this I guarantee:

Your mind may own the daylight

But your nights belong to me.
