There once was a boy of nine or maybe ten years,
He was the type that would never ever shed tears.
Him and his friends would play outside every day,
And if one of them cried, They all knew what to say.
They all got along and always helped each other
And everyone, including himself, loved his mother.

There once was a boy of twelve or thirteen years,
He was beginning to become the type to shed tears.
Him and his friends would hang on out on a Saturday,
And if one of them cried, only he knew what to say.
They got along for the most part, just a fight or two,
And when someone joked about his mom, he did too.

There once was a boy of fourteen or fifteen years,
He was beginning to only be seen shedding tears.
Him and his friends would say "hey" in the hallway,
And if he was caught crying, they would walk away.
Most of them moved on, he barely trusted the rest,
And he could call his mother anything, but the best.

There is a boy around the age of seventeen years,
He is dried up from all the time he has shed tears.
He occasionally nods to a person he "befriended"
And no caught him crying, they thought that ended.
Trust and loyalty failed, he became a terrible friend,
And him and his mother's relationship came to an end.

He learned of secrets that made him enraged at her,
Not just her though, but also his dear, loving father.
One made him think of when his father punched him,
Another posed how that "man" can sing a church hymn?
To top it off, him and his lover can't seem to go a night
Without bickering, worrying, and going without a fight.

This boy sits alone and writes to relieve himself of the pain,
But people put him down, saying that all he does is complain,
But only a snippet of that pain is revealed through his poetry,
If you truly wish to know, maybe he will tell you. Just ask me
