of a little girl,
with bright blue eyes,
and golden curls.
the shinning light,
of her Daddy's life,
'till the day,
they said good-bye.
The door bell wrang,
and Mommy answered,
there stood two men,
asking to enter.
In the livingroom,
everyone went,
as they're told of an accident.
Mommy cried,
and Suzi hid,
the little Maggie,
with the golden hair,
turned away and up the stairs.
In her room
and locked the door,
went to the window
and cried some more.
The sun had set,
the day was done,
there she sat
with a blue crayon,
writing a letter to her Daddy Dear.
"Daddy Dear
please come back,
can't you see
just what we lack.
Mommy's crying,
hasn't stopped,
and Suzi's dollies,
all are lost.
We need you here,
we need your strength,
to face the world,
to face each day.
Please Daddy Dear."
Years go by,
sweet sixteen,
those golden curls,
now are green.
A knock on the door,
late one night,
there she stood,
brought home from a fight.
Mommy yelled
and Maggie ran
to her room
once again.
She locked her door
and began to write
just like once before.
"Daddy Dear
please come back
can't you see
just what we lack.
Mommy's cries
have changed to screams.
Quiet Suzi,
is never seen,
we need you here
we need your strength
to face the world
to face each day.
Please Daddy Dear."
Time came and went
and Maggie grew.
All her tears
long past spent
she sits down nerviously
trying to write
one last letter,
to her Daddy Dear that night
"Daddy Dear
thank you much
for listening to me
when I was lost.
Mommy's tears
have long since past
and our quiet Suzi
emerges at last.
We miss you still
and I hope you know,
that throughout time,
we always will.
I marry tomarrow,
to start my life,
I know you're there
right by my side,
thank you Daddy Dear."
The very next day,
she walked the aisle,
smiling faces,
she did meet.
And in the front row,
sat one empty seat.
Smiling softly,
she did nod,
to her Daddy
long since gone.
