Something So Small

The simple things go so much farther then everything else.

Deep in the woods,
Covered in a blanket of snow,
Silently waiting,
for the plants to grow,

In a solitary house,
Lives a lonely man,
With nothing to live for,
no future plans,

But somehow,
Just breathing is enough,
Seeing fresh snow,
is like being in love,

He doesn't need money,
or the newest T.V,
All he needs,
is something to eat,

That Christmas morning,
When he wakes up,
He will see the one thing,
he loves,

Outside his window,
Will be nature at peace,
The birds chirping and branchs swaying,
Will be like a feast.

What do we really have,
That is worth much more,
Material things last a moment,
And leave our souls sore,

If we could widen our eyes,
And open that closed door,
We could find that sometimes,
Simple means more,

When your child was born,
When you got married,
You found that happiness
Was something you carried,

Where does that feeling go?
Why does it leave?
Is it something we let go,
A feeling un-cleaved?

Happiness is never a lonely thing,
The feeling alone,
Makes you want,
to sing,

Someday we'll all find,
in our own seperate way,
What it feels like,
To see fresh snow silently lay.
