I watched as a fistfull of sand slipped thru my fingers.
As the miniscule granules blew on the wind
I saw the different events of my life
Wafted in the breeze
Scattered to the edge of my memory
Untill the only evidence of its significanse
Was integrated to the core of who I am.
Each gust of wind was full of has-beens and would'ves
The fine sand stuck to my fingers
Like every decision and every indecision.
I saw my life spread before me,
An omnipotent current with an inevitable waterfall,
Opportunities missed and forgotten,
Decisions made and consequences suffered.
Whether happiness is found or lost
I will soon be facing the waterfall
And at that moment on the edge
Nothing will matter.
All of my hopes and dreams
Blow in the breeze
As a fistfull of sand slips thru my fingers.
