With its flashlight stars
One has to wonder
Who we really are
Are we men?
Great thinkers
Or warriors
Valiant and brave
Or are we barely shadows
Existing on the fringes of light
Trying to hold out
Until the light eventually fades.
Are we the kings of land?
The pinnacle of Earth
Tamers of beasts
And bringers of justice?
Or are we dust in the wind?
Floating between stars
Through endless twilight
Watching the world go by.
We seek the twilight
And we gaze at the flashlight stars
To ask for answers
That may never have questions
We gaze at the night sky
Searching for the light in the dark
Only to be met with a silence
Cold as it is beautiful
