We all wear a mask
An emotional wall
Built up by words
And looming so tall

We paint our dear faces
With a smile and a laugh
Meanwhile we travel
A trouble filled path

But a wink hides our nerves
And a touch masks our pain
By tearing down others
We seek to find gain

The world never knows
What happens inside
All the cares and the worries
That we work hard to hide

Some do it because
They feel empty and lost
Others play knowing ridicule
Is too high a cost

So inside we suffer
As we all play this game
By hiding emotions
And holding in pain
