I Don't Love You, but I Always Will

Poetry By: Lady Wolf
Poetry

Inspired by the song Poison and Wine by the Civil Wars. This song has a very special place in my heart and that will never change, no matter how much time passes.

Your words drip through me,

Like poison and wine.

You heal and bruise me,

But you will never be mine.

I never had a choice,

But I'd always choose you.

A living contradiction,

Known to such precious few.

I want you to hold me,

I want to push away.

I'm with you every night,

But, I'm a stranger today.

You hate my love,

I love your hate

Broken by chance,

Held together by fate.

The curse of free will,

To love what cannot be.

The blessed torture,

That binds you and me.

I stay away from you,

You are with me still.

I don't love you....

But I always will.
