I died in a car crash,
Unrecognizable when they pulled me out.
They clipped my clothes and ripped my soles,
Results of my fate came without doubt.
My mother cried and tried to reach me.
My brother fell to his knees and stared.
My lover tried to save me still,
Though my body is wrapped around the wheel.
My soul has reached for a place,
Though there's no more smile on my face.
My fingertips feel as if they breathe,
While the scales develop on my knees.
My bones all merge with the change.
A whole new creature I became.
My eyes are now filled with light,
Their once dark blue a new delight.
My legs move with a tide,
Of souls collected for my ride.
This place is something made of dreams,
Where I am maiden of the sea.
And the water is complete with all the tears,
Of those who loved me through the years.
My mother's pools of salty green,
As she helps pick out a dress for me.
My brother's drops of chocolate brown,
As he watched them place me in the ground.
My lover's eyes are all I see,
As I float on down the shining stream.
His tears are shed of solid gold,
The memories of my hand he holds.
He drinks away the moonless night,
As I float on down my stream of light.
My voice he hears in the wind
As my journey down this stream begins.
Creatures dive and dip below,
Their skin with mine illuminates a glow.
They are the souls of my melodies,
Andsongs I made when I did sing.
Their bodies flow with changing might,
As we become lost in my stream of light.
